Nature itinerary by bicycle
A Nature ride, alternating between cultivated fields, stands of oak, gentle hills and unpaved roads. Making this itinerary particularly suggestive is the Lucciolabella natural reserve, with the “calanchi”, furrowed clay formations making for lunar like scenery, interspersed with rows of cypress. No less impressive is the centuries old Oak of the Witches, found on the flat land of the itinerary. For those who wish a longer ride, with a deviation from the regular itinerary the lovely hamlet of Bagno Vignoni, built around thermal baths that date from the Renaissance, is easily reached. For the pilgrims who used the via Francigena, Bagni Vignoni was a not-to-be-missed rest stop.
